From New Zealand, 45 years old. I've been doing game development for the last 2 years on a solo indy project.
Tried Java at university in the early 2000s (but stuck to Visual Basic, scripting, and modding). I was into competitive gaming with a long history in comps. I’ve wanted to make games since I was 10, when I got my first Commodore and learned BASIC, Turtle, and Logo.
Back then, I was put off by the lack of "game design driven elements" and no institutions supporting games. That changed when I discovered Blueprints. As a visual learner, I can iterate prototypes and concepts quickly, then learn the syntax for the equivalent and hack my way through C++.
I’m in awe of the open source community and Epic’s Unreal Engine suite — truly tools for artists and developers to "unreal worlds".
WW2, game development, competitive FPS, Android/XDA testing, Linux, fishing, heavy metal music, drumming, and other cool things.
